MEET THE TEAM

Favourite Meal

I’d have to say caramelized pork and egg! My mom’s recipe is the best!

Favourite aspect of Calgary

The diversity – there’s diversity in the people, but also in the food and the way people talk! I’m a huge foodie, so the food has to be my favorite thing!

Perfect Weekend

On the weekends, I enjoy watching movies at home trying new food with my roommate or hanging out at the mall.

Birthplace

I’m from Vietnam and I moved to Canada to start studying at SAIT since July 2018.

Fun Fact

I enjoy binge watching the Big Bang Theory! Despite the show being over, I love rewatching it!

Happiest Place

I’d have to say when I’m at home over the weekend hanging out with one of my friends.

What is your job position?

2021-22 Board Member

How long have you been at Saitsa?

I’ve been a Director since May 2021.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The best parts about being a Board Member is learning new things from other members and visiting classes at SAIT to give presentations. I enjoy interacting with students and being involved with Saitsa.

What is your education and work background?

I graduated high school in Vietnam and completed one year of university there before moving to Canada to start at SAIT. I started in the Business Diploma program at SAIT. I wanted to study for two years, start working, and see if I enjoy my career. But when I graduated in 2020, COVID-19 started, so I decided to continue my schooling by working towards a Business Administration degree. This academic year, 2021-22, is my last year in the program.

Why did you choose to work for Saitsa?

A big reason was to get involved! Another was because of something I feel strongly about which is the tuition for international students. It’s almost triple the price than domestic tuition! I chatted with our current Saitsa VP, Dawson Thomas and President, Liam Hunter about their campaign speeches and it influenced me into running to be a Board Member.

What advice do you have for new SAIT students?

GPA is not everything and don’t be afraid to talk to your professors about their professional network. I use to be nervous to ask my professors to get me in touch with their connections. Your professors want to help you, even outside of classes! Also, go to networking events whenever you can!

Why should students get to know Saitsa?

Because Saitsa is great, haha! We offer a lot, including volunteering opportunities and the Board. Mainly, because we fight to solve student issues that come directly from SAIT students. We put a lot of effort into advocating for students, even if it doesn’t get showcased all the time.
