SAITSA Services & Programs To Help Students on a Budget

SAITSA Food Bank
Students in need of emergency food relief will receive an immediate supply of up to one week’s worth of food. SAITSA can assist with completing a referral to the Calgary Food Bank for longer term support. Hampers may be requested at the SAITSA Resource Centre (MC107) in the Stan Grad Centre.

Good Food Box
Buy a box of fruits and vegetables at a student friendly price, courtesy of Community Kitchens of Calgary.

The boxes come in three approximate sizes:
20 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables for $20.00
30 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables for $25.00
40 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables for $30.00

Orders must be placed and pre-paid in cash only at the SAITSA Resource Centre office (MC107). Orders are placed once per month and can be picked up the following week.

NOTE: No boxes in May, June, July and August.

Boxes not claimed by 4:30pm on the pick-up date are given away to students in need.

SAITSA Student Support Centre

Our student peers will work with you to find a resource or place to help you meet your needs. They can help you in many ways.

Some examples are:

  • Talk to you about community groups/agencies and what they do
  • Connect you to services that can help with food, clothing and shelter
  • Connect you to resources to help you with budget and money management
