WELCOME TO THE YETI’s!
YETI’s are a team of students that promote a vibrant and engaged campus community. Specifically, each YETI sits on SAITSA’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) who meet regularly to create events for SAIT students that are: inclusive, engaging and responsive to students’ interests. Whether the events create leadership opportunities, produce a sense of community or provide social engagement, their primary focus will be on cultivating school spirit on campus.
WHAT IS A YETI?
It’s a large hairy creature resembling a taller than average human or bear, said to live in the highest part of the Himalayas sometimes called the Abominable Snowman – JUST KIDDING! While this definition rings true of the mythical creature, its purpose is to help us standout on campus, plus we like playing in the snow. The YETI represents diversity, period. Each student that joins our team brings a variety of perspectives, opinions and experiences in order to help us thrive towards enriching campus life!

WHAT DO THE YETI’S DO?
Here’s a list of events and activities we’ve got in the works and it’s up to us to make them happen!
Event Description: Students are invited to join us for a night of yoga in the dark under the mood of colourful glowsticks! You can come get some glowsticks, and line up for glow-in-the-dark face paint, and watch yourself GLOW under black lights! Just make sure to kick back, relax, and do some yoga to our playlist of tranquil tunes.
Event Description: Drink beer and eat tapas – it’s that simple (yum)! Part of what we do is promote craft beer created in our own back yard. Students can increase their beer knowledge and find some new favourites by sampling a variety of local types of beer on site.
Student Leadership Conference
Event Description: This will be a SAITSA’s first! Derived from yours-truly, the Student Leadership Conference endeavours to partner with organizations and individuals who share our values on sustainability, diversity and inclusivity, social justice and human rights.
Event Description: Discover a different nite out on campus – paint and party with friends! Picasso, Van Gogh – they’ve got nothing on you!
School vs. School Bowling Competition
Event Description: It’s a head-to-head match-up between The School of Business vs the School of Construction OR the School of Hospitality and Tourism vs the School of Transportation! You get the idea – schools are invited to rally together and submit their go-to teams for a competitive bowling tourney. (Students did you know we have a bowling alley on campus? Well we do!!!)
Party Hard Pool Party
Event Description: Pump your fist, and dip your toes in – SAIT’s lap pool received a one-day facelift converting itself into a party hard pool party. Grab your friends, slap on your suits and let the good-times roll. Chill on large inflatables and listen to the beats of select DJs.
Event Description: Teams of two maneuver their way through campus while they analyze clues, navigate unfamiliar areas, perform physical and mental challenges, and vie for first place. Teams are progressively eliminated at the end of each challenge. The winners will receive a grand prize courtesy ATB Financial.
Last Class Bash
LCB! The legendary end-of-year party gives students a chance to celebrate their successes, blow off some steam after a hard-working term/year and party one last time before heading into exams. Join the party with music, food, beverages, and the chance to win some HUGE prizes!
