CKUA Radio Network presents: Lowest Of The Low with Jr. Gone Wild live on September 29th at The Gateway!

LOWEST OF THE LOW http://www.lowestofthelow.com/

Lowest of the Low’s fourth studio album Do The Right Now is set for release on September 8th via Pheromone Recordings. In anticipation of the release, the band have shared the first single and lyric video for “Powerlines,” watch here.

On the single, front man Ron Hawkins reflects, “Powerlines is a song about my experiences writing the first Low album, Shakespeare My Butt . I had recently broken up with a long time partner and moved into a punk rock squat with some crazy characters I called friends. Every day I walked through the city with a notebook and drank in bars and went to galleries and shows and hung out in my little bohemian circle of anarchists, punks and poets. I became the protagonist in the movie of my life and the city was a cinematic sidekick and factored into the lyrics like a companion.”

JR. GONE WILD http://jrgonewild.com/

Cowpunk, Alt Country, New Roots… Call it what you will, Jr. Gone Wild are widely acknowledged as the band that collapsed boundaries and paved a road for edgy country rock that has been the trail to fame for the likes of Corb Lund, Neko Case, Blue Rodeo and swacks of other notable crossover artists. In 1984 country music was dominated by MOR Nashville pap and there wasn’t an established genre or market for what Jr. Gone Wild, kd lang and Jerry Jerry were doing. It combined wheat fields and tractors with a city savvy yet to be recognized in the major music centres.
