AMICCUS-C National Professional Conference (NPC) May 25 -29, 2008 – The NPC has a 31 year history with a current national membership of 61 Students’ Associations representing Canadian College and University students from coast to coast. This event is geared towards the professional and personal development of managers and staff working for Canadian students. Student Associations provide College and University students with products and services, occupying prominent and central facilities on Canadian campuses. With over 120 delegates expected, there is a wealth of knowledge and experience to learn from.
AMICCUS-C NPC 2008 is being held in Lake Louise located in Banff National Park - Canada's first national park - 1 1/2 hrs drive west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. From Banff's humble beginnings as a 26 square kilometre hot springs reserve, Banff National Park now consists of 6,641 square kilometres of unparalleled mountain scenery nestled in the heart of the magnificent Canadian Rockies. Each year, millions of visitors come to Banff to marvel at the emerald waters of Lake Louise, walk amongst the flower-filled heavens at Sunshine Meadows, and drive beneath the towering jagged peaks lining the Icefields Parkway. Snow-capped peaks, glistening glaciers and sweeping vistas are just one part of the allure of Banff National Park. You can enjoy all the comforts of home in the town of Banff and the village of Lake Louise, or step out into the wilderness and the home of some of North America's wildest creatures, including grizzly bears, caribou and wolves.

Parking at the Chateau Lake Louise
We have negotiated a flat rate of $15/day for delegates of the conference whether you have valet or self park. You may also park in the Parks Canada lot at the side of the hotel that is "free". The hotel says that no one gets bothered there as long as you display a Park Pass but they will not guarantee the cars safety as they do not have control of the lot. That being said, Parks Canada can give you a ticket for parking overnight but this has not happened to date. Bottom line...locals park there when they stay at the Chateau but if you want to guarantee your cars safety then park in the hotel lot. It's up to you!
Banff National Park Entry Fees
A park pass is required by all people using the Banff National Park; revenues from park passes fund Banff National Park's daily operations.
National Park Entry Fee
Adult $8.80/per day (incl. GST)
Group (Up to seven people arriving at the park in a single vehicle) $17.60/per day (including GST)
If you are driving, passes can be purchased at the park entrance when entering the national park or at the Parks Canada Information Centre in Banff townsite or the Lake Louise Visitor Centre.
If you are taking an airport shuttle, the airport shuttle will be stopping at the park entrance to allow people to purchase their Park Pass.
Pre-conference Activities
AMICCUS-C Cup Golf Tournament at Golden Golf and Country Club
Fee: $110 (Golf Cart Included)
The Golden Golf & Country Club is a special place. It is a place where fairways skirt the banks of mighty rivers, greens sit eloquently beneath spruce trees and creeks charge from their mountain domains. Golden, offers up a spectacular golf course layout and a beautiful place to visit. Enjoying Golden is easy, just let the sounds and sights of Mother Nature relax you on the first tee and through out the round. Try and get up tight over a 6-iron approach shot while Whitetail Deer forge almost at your feet. Try and worry about how things at the office are going when all you can see is snow-capped mountains in every direction. Everything is "golden" when you are playing in Golden.
Golden Golf Club is a hilly but not mountainous 6778-yard course. You will play flat 400 yard holes where all you need is a 3 wood from the tee and then on the next tee you could be playing a 378 yard par four where you will need a BIG driver just to get to the 150 yard mark. The greens are perfect and so green that they look as if somebody has used a crayon to colour them.
With a recent four star rating from Golf Digest, the Golden Golf & Country Club is a golf destination worthy of great applause. The front nine is a 1986 Bill Newis creation. In 1992, the back nine, commissioned to Les Furber, opened to complete the project. The course blends two dramatic nines to form a rock-solid test of golf. http://www.golfgolden.com/
