Photography Procedures for Student Journalists

SAITSA maintains a policy to monitor professional photography being shot in its licensed locations.  Any one wishing to shoot professional photographs (using a camera with a detachable lens or a video camera) should be aware of the following procedures:

  • All photographers from on-campus media outlets must obtain permission to shoot professional photos from SAITSA a minimum of 48 hours prior to shooting.
  • In order to obtain permission, photographers must complete and submit the Professional Photography Approval Form (below).  Approved applicants will be given a Press Pass.
  • Under no circumstances may photographers shoot photos of patrons consuming or holding alcoholic beverages.
  • Photographers shooting with professional or video cameras in SAITSA operations shall not be permitted on the premises if they are not in possession of a Press Pass.
  • Weal photographers should contact their Photo Editor for assistance if they will be required to shoot events on a regular basis.

Professional Photography Approval Form

Photographers shooting with a professional or video camera in SAITSA operations must be in possession of a Press Pass. Use this form to apply for a Press Pass at least 48 hours prior to the intended photo shoot. This form is only required for on-campus media and photographers (Weekly Albertan, the Weal, Journalism students, etc.)
